Contact info ‣
Despite its relatively short length, this is generally considered to be the most strenuous hike in the East Hudson Highlands. It involves steep climbs over rock ledges that can be very slippery when wet. You’ll need to use both your hands and your feet in many places along the way. Proper footgear is essential for this hike, which is best done on weekdays, to avoid the crowds on weekends. Do not attempt this hike in wet weather, or if the trail is covered with snow or ice.

Lomar Farms
Palisades, NY

After decades in the greatest city (NYC) in the world, Brett and Yvonna Wright did what many American families have done, sort of. They packed up their Harlem Brownstone and moved the family out of the city in search of a simpler way of life. They never imagined their search for the perfect property would lead them to a nearly 200-year-old fixer upper farmhouse on five acres of land, just 20 miles outside of New York City. But, it turned out to be the perfect find for Yvonna, Brett and their two young daughters, Lola and Marley for whom the farm is named after. Brett (an entrepreneur and publisher) was immediately drawn to the business of running a farm, while his beautiful wife Yvonna (an actress and former soap opera star) fell in love with the old barn which she would like to turn into a yoga studio and community theater. Knowing little to nothing about farming and committed to working the projects themselves, the Wrights are determined to restore their old farm into the beautiful property it once was, and everyone’s got a job in the family business. From tilling and planting their new garden, to scooping up chicken poop, to helping make and market their beautiful hand poured beeswax candles, there’s never a dull moment, and always work to be done. But, at the end of the day what the Wright’s enjoy most is family time and getting back to the basics…

Lafayette Theater
Suffern, NY

The Lafayette Theatre, named for the Revolutionary War hero the Marquis de Lafayette, was designed by architect Eugene DeRosa and it’s construction completed in 1924. Originally, it was equipped with a custom-designed Muller organ to accompany silent films and live performances. The silent film “Scaramouche” directed by Rex Ingram was the first to grace it’s screen. At that time tickets cost 25 cents. The theater became home to live vaudeville shows and film presentations and has since remained a single screen movie theater. In the late 1980s, the old stage was redone and the New York Theatre Organ Society installed a new organ, the Ben Hall Memorial Mighty Wurlitzer. In the late-1990’s, the Lafayette’s future as a single-screen neighborhood movie palace was uncertain until the our family stepped in. Robert Benmosche, a resident of Suffern and Chairman and CEO of MetLife at the time, saw the potential of the Lafayette Theatre and purchased the building. Immediate repairs to the roof and mechanical systems were completed in order to prevent any more serious damage from occurring. Since then, we have invested in restoring the ornate ceilings, opera boxes, and an exterior facade renovation. In July 2013, we went from Landlord to Tenant and took over operation of the movie theatre. We believe that maintaining this historical gem is about bringing the community together. The theater remains open and welcomes guests with first run films, classic films and other live performances.
